G.O.P. Predicts Its Own Defeat in Election

By MSucre · October 22, 2008 · 6 Comments · 132 Views

In response to the criticism received regarding the Republican National Committee's spending $150,000 on Gov. Sarah Palin's wardrobe, the RNC has stated that "It was always the intent that the clothing go to a charitable purpose after the campaign." Is it just me or does the fact that the RNC sees no need for Palin to actually KEEP the clothes herself, imply that they are predicting defeat?

If her own clothes weren't nice enough to visit with voters in Ohio, would they be nice enough to visit with heads of state or ambassadors? I think she's going to keep the clothes either way, and that the RNC thought of the first thing they could.

But then again, I don't think it's wrong that they bought them for her in the first place!

Well I do judge her a bit harshly about these clothes. Because she created this persona of soccer mom small town gal, not Joe the Neiman Marcus shopper.

I think this is telling on a lot of levels. In some ways you can't criticize the woman. It's not like she has had a whole career in politics (like Hillary Clinton) to acquire and accumulate the necessary wardrobe. She can't exactly pick up a suit from Target for the campaign.

BUT!!! At the same time, the unpreparedness of her wardrobe speaks volumes to her general unpreparedness to be Vice President. If the shoe fits, wear it. But if you don't even own the shoe to begin with, then it's not yours to wear!

If she wants to do some real charity, auction the clothes off after the election and donate the money to charities... preferably ones related to education.
